It's been a month since the election and the denial is starting to wear off. I've read some good stuff since the election about what we progressives might do over the next few years to regain some control over our country, here's the best so far. Urban Archipelago is about how our country is largely divided by Urban vs. Rural issues these days and that the Democrats and Progressives in general should forget about the farms and focus on the cities where we're strong. Not because we hate rural people or anything it's just that rural Democrats are badly outnumbered in their own states and thus their votes are useless. The piece is written by the editors of the The Stranger which I hear is basically Dan Savage's rag. (Also my friend Keith Bacon has been known to write for them.) If you're at all familiar with Dan's column Savage Love you'll notice his style. Check it out. The only other option I've found really compelling since the election is this one.
